The Tragic Loss of 'Will and Maggie'

  Memorial in London for those lost at sea  on the sinking of the fishing vessel  WILL AND MAGGIE   Harry Flowers (1866-1914) was born on August 14, 1866, in Kirkley, Suffolk County, England to William Flowers (1828-1921) and Emily Moir (1828-1915). He was the fifth child of six born into the family, but not the first of his namesake.   An older brother named Harry was born in 1858, but died in 1864 before he was six years old.   Harry’s oldest sibling was a girl named Louisa, but the next five children born to Emily were all boys.   Harry Flowers was the son of an agricultural labourer, but Harry grew up with a desire to be a fisherman. Perhaps this desire was fueled by older brother George working as a quay labourer on the docks or his brother William who was working as a fisherman at age 18 or perhaps just the proximity to the sea calling him to a new adventure. On January 4, 1891, Harry married Sophia Rebecca Pitcher in Carlton-Colville, Suffolk, England.  Their children were: Kat
