Heroes and Rebels in the Family Tree—Jehosaphat Davy, Mayor of Norwich
Jehosaphat Davy was born in March 1615 in New Buckenham, Norfolk, England and christened on March 17, 1615. He was the sheriff of the city of Norwich in 1667 and mayor in 1678. On March 7, 1654, he married Susan Chambers of Bawburgh, in St. Clement’s church, Norwich. In 1668 he was an occupier in All Saints’ parish. His daughter Anne married alderman Thomas Postle, and died in 1702. Jehosaphat was a beer brewer and died in 1689 at the age of seventy-two years, and was buried in St. Jame’s church.
Very little is known of Jehosaphat Davy’s family ancestry,
except his father was named Jehosaphat Davy 1579-1637 and his mother is not
known. His grandparents were William Davy
1540-1600 and Margaret 1542-1612.
Jehosaphat Davy was known to have a daughter from his marriage to Susan Chambers. His daughter Ann was born about 1635 in Brumstead, Norfolk, England. She was married in Brumstead on August 23 1658 to Thomas Postle.
They had nine children:

and her son was John Baker 1775- and his son was David Staff Baker 1805-1869
and his wife was Hannah Forster 1803-1863 and her brother was Isaac Forster
1801-1890 and his son was Thomas Forster 1837-1888 and his daughter was
Caroline Forster 1864-1906 and her husband was George “Pikey” William
Welch-Adams 1867-1940.
