Walter Joseph Bunn was a fisherman and his father, William, was a platelayer for the railroad and later worked as a fisherman.  Walter was baptised as an adult on February 24, 1884 in Barnby, Suffolk, England.  He was likely baptised at the insistence of his soon to be wife.  Walter married Rachel Bryant 1859-1936 in the first quarter of 1884 in a civil ceremony registered in Mutford, Suffolk, England.  Walter and Rachel had twelve children of whom 3 died in infancy, son Percy died at age 13 and their last child, Ethel May died at age 3 years.  Their children were:

Of the four Bunn brothers in the army, three were in the Army before the Great War and the other joined up very early.  Two of them were formerly in the choir (Arthur and Ernest).  All of them escaped with their lives though Jimmy lost an arm.  They are first cousins of Corporal Clifford Bunn, M.M. (son of Thomas George Bunn 1873-1951) who was killed and of Private Sidney Bunn (son of Albert Edward Bunn 1865-1948) who also lost his life.
