On September 25, 1856, Susannah
Jane Boyce died of typhoid fever and her child was left an orphan. The 1861 census records show Thomas Boyce,
age 6, at the Oulton Workhouse. By age
16, Thomas was engaged as an ordinary seaman aboard the fishing vessel
“Australia” skippered by William Benjamin Burwood, with John Baker Marjoram as
his mate.
On June 21,
1877, Thomas James Boyce, Age 22, and Elizabeth Ann Adams, age 21, (1856-1892) were married at St. Margaret’s
Church in Lowestoft. Elizabeth was the
daughter of Joseph Adams (1824-1912) and Elizabeth Ann Richards
(1822-1906). Thomas and Elizabeth had
six children. They were:
1. Elizabeth Susannah Boyce 1878–1959 married 1901, Clement John Goulty. Both emigrated to USA in 1925.
2. Florence Emily Boyce 1879–1945 married June 16, 1902, Arthur John Pitcher.
3. Thomas James Boyce 1881–1964 married November 2, 1901, Amy Laura Minister.
4. Joseph Scarll Boyce 1883–1958 married abt. December 1904, Bernice Wright.
5. John Edwin Boyce 1884–1967 married April 20, 1907, Alice Mary Jenkerson.
6. Alice Maud Boyce 1885–1886.
7. Ernest Arthur Boyce 1886–1887.
After Thomas
James Boyce died in the sinking of the Donum Patris, Thomas' widow,
Elizabeth Ann Adams was remarried in 1889 to Henry Dann.

wife was Bernice Wright 1884-1950 and her father was Samuel Wright 1862-1936
and his father was William Wright 1815-1885 and his father was Jonathan Wright
1778-1844 and his mother was Elizabeth Baldry 1741-1821 and her father was Farrer
Baldry 1709-1774 and his father was Henry Boldero/Baldry 1670-1743 and his son
was John Baldry 1700-1758 and his son was John Baldry 1755-1833 and his
daughter was Susanna Baldry 1774-1858 and her daughter was Phoebe Mayes
1804-1873 and her son was Thomas Forster 1837-1888 and his daughter was Caroline
Forster 1864-1906 and her husband was George "Pikey" William Welch-Adams
1867-1940.
