In 1911, at age 15, Thirza was living with the family of Herbert Frank Brand in St. Pancras, London, England as a general servant.

Thirza Jane married Harry Cook Nobbs in July 1921 in Loddon, Norfolk, England at the age of 26. They had 2 children, according to the 1939 Census.  They are Joyce Margaret Nobbs (1922-2006) and Josephine M. Nobbs (1933-    ).

Christiana “Chrissie” Taylor (1897-1983) was the 14th child of James Taylor and Mary Ann Powles.  She was born on January 4, 1897 in Kirstead, Norfolk, England.  Baptized April 25, 1897 in the Parish Church in Kirstead, Norfolk, England.

Chrissie married Thomas Herbert West on February 10, 1917 in West Ham, Essex, England at the age of 20.

Thomas Herbert West (1885-1956) was a career military man.  He enlisted on July 30, 1902 in London at the age of 17 years and 5 months.   He stood at 5 ft. 5 in. tall with a fresh complexion, brown hair and blue eyes.  By the time of his discharge from the Royal Marines on July 4, 1922, he had grown to a full 6 ft. 6 in. tall.  Thomas Herbert West served with distinction in the Portsmouth Division of the Royal Marines having received badges for Long Service as well as four Good Conduct badges throughout his 20 year service career.  In addition, he was awarded the 1914-15 Star Medal, British War Medal, and the Victory Medal.  Even though he debarked for several sea cruises aboard military vessels, most of his career was served at Naval headquarter in London.

Although he received a military pension at the end of World War I, he was re-engaged for military service from September 28, 1938 until December 31, 1940.

Chrissie and Thomas Herbert West were not know to have any children.

Oliver Cyril Last Taylor (1899-1978) was the 15th and last child of James Taylor and Mary Ann Powles.  He was born on February 20, 1899 in Kirstead, Norfolk, England.

Oliver Cyril Last Taylor worked as a farm labourer until he enlisted in the Tank Corps on July 22, 1919. His employer was a widow named Edith Kerrison and she wrote that Oliver was “a good worker, civil and obliging.”

He was discharged from the military on June 25, 1920 as no longer physically fit for War Service.  It was determined that he suffered from Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media (CSOM) which is defined as a perforated tympanic membrane with persistent drainage from the middle ear for more than 2-6 weeks. The disability was determined to be permanent and not attributable or aggravated by service during present war.  He was granted a 30% disability rating and a weekly pension of 8 s. 3 d. for a total 18 weeks.

Dear Sir,

I most respectfully ask you to take notice that

I have been discharged from the Army since the 25/6/20, and that two weeks pay were due to me on my discharge from

hospital, and also pay and ration allowance for my month’s

leave.  Should be glad if you will kindly assist or take

some action in the matter as work is very slack here at

present.

I remain,

Sir,

Your obedient Servant,

(SD) Late Pte. O. Taylor,

No. 320291

Tank Corps, 3rd Battalion.

Oliver married Alice Maud Fuller in July 1923 in Loddon, Norfolk, England at the age of 24.  They had three children.  George A Taylor was born in Loddon, Norfolk, England about July 1924, Roland C Taylor was born in Loddon, Norfolk, England about October 1926, and Peter Roy Taylor was born in Loddon, Norfolk, England on May 15, 1931.
